Distraction and an Illusion
A lot of people seem to think that fracking has ended the global oil crisis and regional gas situation, but it is more of a distraction and an illusion and hasn’t changed the underlying systemic problem that the fluid hydrocarbon supply is more limited than people realise. One might dream that the fear of climate change will get people to limit their intake of oil and gas but the numbers prove otherwise: (see chart above)
As you can see, the path is relentlessly upward – the dips are only seasonal, with Q4 always being the highest for the year. So if anyone stands up and says Paris is making a difference, the planet will say, Oh really? It doesn’t feel like that from here:
